The cycling marathon is held every year in memory of Gabrijel Skočić and his fellow firefighters, members of the DVD Vodice (Volunteer Fire Department), who tragically lost their lives in the Kornati tragedy. What began as an intimate ride in memory of courage and togetherness has grown over the years into one of the most recognizable sporting events in Vodice.
The event gathers more than 200 participants each year, from professional cyclists and recreationists to citizens who pay tribute to their colleagues and friends through a joint ride. The focus of the marathon is not on competition, but rather on preserving memory through the sporting gathering of the local community.
